Outstanding Chapter Members

Dawson Ferguson attended C.C. Sweeting High School in Nassau, Bahamas. After graduating high school, Dawson enrolled at the College of the Bahamas before transferring to Prairie View A&M University (PVA&MU) in 1976. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1979 and Master of Business Administration Degree (M.B A.) in 1980.

 

After graduating, Dawson took employment at PVA&MU as Head Cashier. In 1981 he married Gladys Kellum, in Bon Wier, Texas, their marriage produced two sons, Dawson Jr. and Ashton. In 1982, Dawson went to work as a Manager at KFC National Management Company, and after promotion to the District Training Store Manager, Houston he and his family decided to return to the Bahamas.

 

Dawson worked for the Bahamas government as a Trade Statistician and Assistant Director of Statistics responsible for producing the foreign trade statistics of the Bahamas.

While living in the Bahamas, Dawson got elected to his son Dawson Jr.’s high school board, where he was elected chairman for two consecutive terms. As chairman, he was instrumental in securing funding for the high school expansion. This experience on the school board encouraged him to become a certified teacher in Texas.

 

In 2006, Dawson enrolled at Sam Houston State University; he graduated with a Masters of Education Degree and passed his principal certification exam in 2008. Dawson was Chair of the Special Education Department at Spring High School before leaving to work for Tomball High school as an Individual Education Plan Facilitator. Dawson returned to Spring ISD to Dr. Edward Roberson Middle School. He is currently the Department Chair for Special Services.
