President’s Message – Bahamas – Prairie View Alumni Chapter

Greetings Fellow Bahamian Panthers,

I am pleased to inform you that the Bahamas – Prairie View Alumni Chapter of the National Alumni Association of Prairie View A&M University was chartered on September 5^th, 2020. Our chapter is the newest alumni chapter and we are proud to say that we are also a historic chapter, the first international alumni chapter of Prairie View A&M University. Our chapter boast membership of 61 charter members, comprising primarily of alumni living in the Bahamas as well as in the United States of America.

Our primary purpose is to support and promote our beloved alma mater, and secondarily, to support you, our fellow Bahamians matriculating at Prairie View A&M University. We envision establishing a healthy relationship with all of you individually and collectively. If you have set up a student organization it would be great to have communications between our chapter and your group. We want to be a source of encouragement and assistance for you, to ensure that you have a successful and productive experience on “the hill".

Even though we are unable to do much in person during these days of COVID-19, we look forward to brighter days, when we will engage in fundraisers, and other events to promote Prairie View A&M University. So, as we begin our chapter’s year (September, 2020 – August, 2021) we will reach out to you for information or suggestions along the way and we will bring important information to you also. We hope to award scholarships and establish mentorships and other great opportunities which may arise. We are also looking forward to participating in next year’s Homecoming activities and having the opportunity to meet you all.
